A Principled Brew: Conscious Coffees Featured in Daily Camera- September 2009
The Boulder Daily Camera recently featured Conscious Coffees, highlighting the work we do to minimize the environmental impact of our business, support our farmers, and give back to the community. It's a strong article that really gets at the core of who we are (and it includes some terrific shots of Mel bike delivering).

The article describes the early days of Conscious Coffees, including Mark's recounting of our early relationships with farmers. From the article on Conscious Coffees:
From that start in Chiapas, the company has built relationships with 30 to 35 grower groups in 15 countries, often places where political conflict is endemic.
"We ask them, 'What are your challenges? What can we do? What are your goals?" Glenn says, adding that one of his goals is to help them improve their crop. He wants to help them realize that the better coffee is more valuable. That's a big change for coffee growers, some of the poorest people in the world, who are accustomed to letting commodity exporters set their price" |
